This past April I had the honor of speaking at The Voices of
Godly Women Conference in North Carolina which took place at Williams Chapel
Church. I presented with other national HIV/AIDS Activist Linda H.
Scruggs and Stephanie Brown. Linda Scruggs was diagnosed with HIV over 22 year ago, Ms.
Scruggs serves as the HIV/AIDS community as an AIDS educator, activist and
national and community leader. Stephanie Brown was featured in MTV’s World AIDS Day
documentary special “I am Positive” and is taking part in Greater Than AIDS new
campaign with Alicia Keys WE ARE EMPOWERED which reaches out to women about
HIV/AIDS.
The Voices of Godly women conference ended with a luncheon
where all the women wore hats and gloves, it was great to see a church address
the issue of HIV/AIDS. I hope in the future
more churches will follow in addressing HIV/AIDS as it is a growing health
issue within the African American community.
